In the early 1920’s an Australian chemist named A.R. Pen fold studied tea tree leaves and discovered the antiseptic properties. He discovered that it was 12 to 13 times more effective than germicides and yet non- toxic and non-irritating on the skin. For many thousand years Aborigines have been using this natural essential as a general antiseptic. The Tea tree plant is also knows as known as Melaleuca alternifolia. Today this essential oil is recognized as one of nature’s most effective, natural and versatile healers.

Preliminary double blind studies suggest that tea tree oil might be useful for athlete’s foot and other fungal infections of the skin and nails. It is also known to be effective as standard antiseptics for removing resistant strains or strap bacteria from hospitalized patients. Studies investigating the mechanism of antifungal action have focused on C. albicans. Anti vital activity of TTO, was first demonstrated on tobacco plants and from that demonstration, it was revealed that, the leafs had far fewer lesion when sprayed with TTO.
